Peacefully joined her Creator after a lingering illness brought about from her operation of triple heart bypass and stomach aneurysm more than a decade ago. She lived a wonderful life filled with love and family. She will be missed by all who knew of her. Her life was well-lived.
Born of the spouses, the late Lorenzo Angelo Nicolas and Eulalia Medios Luna, in Balungao, Pangasinan, Phillippines.
She joined her sibling Gertrudes who passed away last November 26, 2011 resulting from illness brought about from breast cancer operation several years back.
Jovita, a dearly loved sister is survived by two brothers, Antonio and Francisco and sister Flordeliza.
She never married but leaves behind several nephews and nieces and great nephews and nieces.
She finished her primary, secondary and college education in the Phillippines. Having graduated at the University of Santo Tomas with a BSN degree, and has passed the government examinations with a certificate as a Registered Nurse (RN).
From there on, she plunged into working in a hospital at Maga City, Phillippines. Then on to the US in 1953 under the "Exchange Visitors Program". Worked at the Margaret Hague Hospital in New Jersey, upon completion of her stay contract, returned home to Phillippines, to work as staff nurse/clinical instructor at the Manila Doctors Hospital and the University of Pangasinan, respectively.
Lured by better life potential by working abroad, she left for a second time for Canada where she worked at Winnepeg Hospital for some time. She then entered the United States via an immigrant visa. She was then re-employed by Margaret Hague Hospital in New Jersey. She later moved to San Francisco and worked at Mount Zion Hospital most of her entire career. Eventually retiring from the University of California Medical Center. She was highly regarded by her co-workers and management, earning certificates of appreciation, commendations, and recognition for a job well done.
She loved San Francisco and spent considerable time enjoying the ambiance of the city by the bay. She enjoyed the comfort of her home which is located near her work.
In her retirement years, she immersed herself in her passion of growing flowering plants, occasional trips to local casinos and helping those in need.
Jovita will be remembered by her family and friends, for her love and energy. She never lost interest in the world around her.
