James Marvin Bynum was born in Oklahoma in 1931. He was the second of 4 children born to James E. and Ruth Bynum. Only he and his sister, Levone, survived. James Marvin and Levone had a close relationship until her passing in 2016. James Marvin was a proud uncle to Levone's 4 children, Myron, Gina, Margaret and Brian.
James Marvin attended Cal Poly for 2 years before enlisting in the Navy. He served on board the USS Boxer during the Korean War as a Radar man.
James Marvin held several jobs after his military service. Once included working as a U.S. mail carrier.
In 1960 James Marvin started his career as a Sheet Metal worker. At the time of his retirement, in 1990, he was a shop foreman.
In December 1963 James Marvin married Joyce, and at the time of his passing they were married 55 years. James Marvin and Joyce had 2 children, James Daniel (Diane) and Julie (Mike). James Marvin was a loving, kind and generous father. In 2002 James Marvin and Joyce became grandparents to Haley, their pride and joy.
James Marvin accepted Christ as his personal Lord and Savior as a child and rededicated his life two years ago.
James Marvin is and will be greatly missed by his family and friends.
