Francis Campaña was born October 10, 1961, to parents Juanito and Elizabeth Campaña. Francis and his family immigrated from the Philippines to the States when he was just over a year old. His younger brother Alan was born a few years later. Growing up, Francis and his family lived all over the country since his father was in the Navy. They eventually settled down in San Jose, California and never left. Francis went to Saint Mary’s College of Moraga and graduated in 1989 and had a long career in the business and finance industry.
Francis worked at California’s Great America for a time and helped build the Grizzly rollercoaster. During his younger years, Francis loved weightlifting and bodybuilding. He was well-known within the community and loved to frequent Gold’s Gym in Santa Clara. Friends gave him the nickname “Frank the Tank” since he was often the biggest guy in the room.
Francis was a huge fan of basketball, he loved watching the Warriors play but more importantly, loved watching his son Jonathan play. He never missed one of Jonathan’s practices or games and went to every tournament, ready to support his son and their team. Francis made it known that his kids were his world, and friends and family could see the dedication through the smile in his eyes, the way he lit up when talking about his kids and bragging about them every time someone asked about them. He was the proudest father. He was the best father.
Francis is survived by his two children, Stephanie Campana and Jonathan Campana, and their three dogs, Tucker, Angela, and Whiskey. Francis was and will always be an amazing father, son, brother, uncle, and friend. He will always be remembered for his great contagious smile, charming personality, sense of humor, and military grade aviator sunglasses. He could light up a room in an instant and make friends wherever he went. The impact he made during his lifetime has left a huge hole we must now fill with his memories, stories, and love.
On behalf of Francis’ family, we thank you all for your condolences, prayers, and well-wishes.
We love you Daddy and will miss you so much. Until we meet again.
