Evelyn was born on November 10, 1928 in Buhi, Camarines Sur, Philippines. She is the daughter of Fabian and Mauricia Martirez, the youngest of four siblings. She is the wife of Guenther O. Lehwalder (deceased). They were married in the Temple of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter–Day Saints (LDS Church), Salt Lake City, Utah.
She completed her education at Centro Escolar University, Manila, Philippines.
Evelyn was a mother of great inspiration to her six children. She was co-organizer of the Relief Society in the 70s, a philanthropic and educational women’s organization within the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints, Baguio City, Philippines. Around the Christmas Holidays, Evelyn opened her home to host orphanage children for two weeks so these children too can have the experience of a loving family and home.
Her other interests included love of family, bowling, cooking for her children’s friends & sewing stuffed animals which she developed into a small family business operating a gift shop in Baguio City, Philippines.
Evelyn is survived by her six children and their spouses – Ralph and Tess Masloff, Jane and Daniel Lowe, Roy and Leslie Masloff, Betsy (Ning) Thulien, Ruth (Pinky) and Sixto Alcantara, Bing and Larry Subelbia; and seven grandchildren – Camille, Austin-Monique, Blythe, Cesca, Andrew, Ian and Katrina Victoria.
A funeral service will take place on Saturday, October 14, 2017 at 11:30am at the Abbey Chapel of Cedar Lawn Memorial Park, 48800 Warm Springs Boulevard, Fremont, California. LDS Church Stake President, Dale Holladay will officiate.
She will be buried alongside our Opa, Guenther O. Lehwalder
