Curtis Harold Felix was born March 2, 1953 to the late Lois Felix and Jewel Felix-Becknel in Los Angeles,California.
As a young man, Curtis lived in San Francisco, California. He attended Balboa High School where he was an athlete displaying his talents best on the football field. He also had a love for basketball and baseball and for having fun. Curtis believe in living life to the fullest! While at Balboa, his fun demeanor caught the attention of Clyther Leonard-Felix, igniting their lifelong journey together.
Clyther and Curtis started their love affair while in high school and continued to build their love while living in San Francisco and eventually San Jose. They wed and from this union, two amazing sons were born, Curtis and Curt Felix. Their love for their children was evident in all they did. Curtis enjoyed grooming his boys for the game of football always being present as a friend, coach, and supportive parent.
Curtis coached football at every level coaching pop warner, college, and semi-pro. The game was truly his passion. As a 49'er faithful, he was always at home games or watching when the team traveled. The love for competing and coaching didn't end at football; Curtis was a baseball and basketball coach and fan as well. In their youth, Curtis enjoyed coaching his sons in baseball and basketball and enjoyed watching the NBA. While everyone knew he was a huge Laker fan, Curtis did allow the Warriors to steal a piece of his heart.
As a provider, Curtis was always working hard to ensure he and his family had a glorious life full of wonderful experiences. He worked at Tandem Computers as an Engineer and Supervisors; Solectron as a Manager and concluded his working years retiring from the Valley Transit Authority (VTA). Curtis was known affectionately by many names, but one that most can relate to is "Mr. Gadget." He loved toys and he worked hard every day to ensure that not only he, but his family would have the finest. He was also known to have any movie you wanted to see and was given the name "Blackbuster" in lieu of Blockbuster as he would hook you up with the latest and greatest.
Clyther and Curtis were together for 56 years. Together they enjoyed a lifetime of travel, seeing the world and having wonderful experiences that built memories to last a lifetime. They did everything together. From jet setting and cruising, to church, catching a game, to having fun with friends and family, these two were stuck together like glue.
Curtis had love in his heart for everyone who called him Dad, Pop, Papa Uncle, or Coach. While the love was pure for his boys, true joy would come across his face as he embraced the role of grandfather. One of his most recent and memorable trips was having the opportunity to take Mila and Wilton to Disneyland. The joy on his face mirrored that of his grandchildren as they were submerged in the best experience at the happiest place on earth.
Curtis passed away peacefully surrounded by family He was preceded in death by his parents, Lois Felix and Jewel Felix-Becknel and leaves memories to cherish by his wife, Clyther Felix, sons Curtis Felix and Curt Felix, daughter Charmaine Felix, grandchildren, Isaiah Ramirez, Mila Felix, Wilton Felix, Tony Dillard, Dasia Dillard, and Jewel, one great grandchild, and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, God children and friends who loved him dearly.
