Arturo Marquez Casuga passed away, surrounded by his family, on Wednesday February 5th after a difficult battle with kidney cancer. He was known for his strength, faith in God, and love for his family.
Arturo was born in San Fernando, La Union, Philippines on February 16, 1946 as the son of the late Jose Flores Casuga and Maria Marquez Casuga. He was raised by his loving great-aunt Tiburcia Espinueva and had many adventures as a young child in the jungles of his mountain backyard. He worked as a police officer for the City of San Fernando and proved to be a brave man. He graduated from Feati University in Manila as the 2nd Lieutenant of the Air Force National Reserve with a B.S. in Business Administration graduating ahead of his class. He then immigrated to the United States with his wife Leticia L. Casuga spending time in Hawaii and Alaska before settling down in California. There he raised a family and built his own Real Estate Brokerage Business, AMC Realty.
Arturo was the ultimate Jack of All Trades. He was a carpenter by trade, able to fix and build almost anything, from the tiles of the kitchen floor to the roof of the house. He was also an exceptional gardener, tending his garden full of fruit, vegetables, and flowers. He loved to cook and was known for his many specialties at family parties. He was also a great storyteller and orator, gifted in telling you a funny story or reciting a beautiful poem. He was a gifted photographer, possessing an eye for taking the best photos and sharing his love of expensive cameras with his youngest daughter. Arturo had many hobbies including singing all his favorite songs, playing tennis, going fishing, rooting for his favorite basketball team, playing poker with his family, and practicing Karate where he earned a Shodan Black Belt in Kenpo.
Arturo is survived by his wife Leticia L. Casuga, his children Connie C. Bautista, Arthur Adam L. Casuga Jr., and Iris Rose L. Casuga. He is also survived by his large loving family including: 9 siblings and their families, in-laws, nieces, nephews, and grandchildren.
Arturo’s admirable strength, wise character, and child-like spirit will be deeply missed by all who knew him.
