Art was born on September 26, 1934 in Chicago, IL to the late Arthur Sr. and Willa Hambric. He was the eldest of three children, his brother Robert and sister Barbara preceded him in death. Art served two years in the US Army after being drafted at the age of 21. He then completed college through a basketball scholarship, earning his Bachelor of Science degree in Business Administration from Saint Louis University. Art also served a long and distinguished career with the US Postal Service where he started as a letter carrier and progressed through the ranks leading up to the executive level positions as Postmaster, District Manager and Vice President, Pacific Area CS Operations. In addition to an illustrious career, Art was an avid athlete and health ambassador—he jogged 3 miles every morning and swam 50 laps every evening in addition to lifting weights and various work-out daily exercises at the gym. Art had a passion for basketball, football and golf. In retirement, he enjoyed playing golf with his golf buddies which included numerous travels to famous golf courses in the country.
His family remembers him as a proud, honorable man with high integrity, a loving husband, father, uncle, grandfather, sports commentator and financial counsel, always providing wise advice on money investments, stocks, real estate and savings.
Art is survived by his wife of 32 years, Rizza; his daughter, Mae; his granddaughter, Zoe; his nieces Felecia, Allison, Robyn, Janelle, Lisa, Mikayla and Emerald; his nephews, Robert Jr., DJ, Nicky, Matthew and Rob; his sisters-in-law Lohr, Gina and Luz; his brothers-in law, Danny and Herbert; his aunt, Zenaida; and six grandnephews/grandnieces, Bobby, Elle, Tony, Niko, Mahalina and Mila.
