She emigrated in 1958 with her parents and siblings to California when she was barely nine years old.
She was raised in San Jose, CA where she and her family set roots and have lived here ever since.
She graduated from San Jose High, and went on to attend San Jose State University. She graduated there with a Degree on Social Sciences. Later on she obtained a Teacher’s Credential. During her tenure with San Jose Unified School District, which lasted 32 years, she earned a Master’s Degree in Administrative Education from San Jose State.
In 1976 she met Victor Romero at a party. Their courtship lasted two years, and in 1978 they got married. They both raised three children: Xenia, Cristal, and Christian David.
She leaves behind five grandchildren: Ethan James and Arianna Claire born to Xenia and Nathan Yeakel.
Thomas Emery, Samuel Edwards, and Emma Luna born to Cristal and Steven Sorensen.
