Warren Dudley Smith

Warren was born June 16th, 1941, in Washington, D.C., to Dudley and Calsie Smith.

He is survived by his two loving children, Christina Smith Mihoulides, and Marc Gregory Smith, and two, soon to be, three grandchildren, Addisweet, Reid, and baby Smith.

In his youth Warren was talented musician on both piano and saxophone but loved singing harmony. A member of several well received bands including Wheels of Progress, Joe Banana and the Bunch. His band, The Savoys, was featured in a book by Mark Opsasnick about the early D.C. Rock Bands. A veteran of the US Air Force and a graduate of the University of Maryland, Warren also owned and operated Chrismarr Realty with his children and Son in law. Working with his family always filled Warren with an enormous sense of pride.

With a lifelong love of history, in 2005 Warren purchased the Old Sweet Springs Resort located in Sweet Springs West Virginia. A member of the Monroe County Historical Society, his goal was to restore the lovely place to its former glory. He so enjoyed the idea of walking down the same path and restoring the building touted as being designed by Thomas Jefferson he often, tongue in cheek, referred to himself as “a friend of Thomas Jefferson”. Always the entrepreneur, in 2008 Along with his partner, Amonda Moon, Warren took on a new business venture as owners of Sweet Sommer Water Bottling Company and in 2009 formed Smith’s Beverage Corp., bottling natural spring water from his property in Sweet Springs West Virginia.

Warren blessed all his friends and family with an amazing sense of humor and passion in all he undertook. His children could not have been more loved and cared for. His son Marc was his best friend and his daughter Christina has always been Daddy’s little girl.

A celebration of his life will be held at Fairview at River Club, 10835 Tidewater Trail, Fredericksburg, VA 22408 at 3 P.M on Thursday December 2, 2010. The family will receive friends an hour prior to the service.
