IN THE CARE OF
Mullins & Thompson Funeral Service
Virginia Ann Pierce, age 87, passed away suddenly on February 10, 2021.
She was born May 13, 1933, in Gadsden, Alabama to Lou Ann and R.T. Whisenant. She married William Hubbard Pierce, on December 29, 1956, who preceded her in death in 2012, one day before their 57th wedding anniversary.
Virginia is survived by her daughter and son and their spouses, Vista and David Thomas, Kevin and Sharon Pierce; as well as her grandchildren Gwendolyn (Thomas) Riley and her husband Andrew Riley, William (Billy) Pierce, and Michael Thomas; her great-grandson Christopher Riley; along with numerous cousins, nieces, and nephews. All of these, she loved and touched deeply throughout her blessed life.
Our mom had a deep affection for her neighbors and they had the same affection for her. Our parents purchased their house in Springfield in 1966, where they remained until our dad passed away in 2012. Virginia remained in their house until 2017 when she moved in with her daughter, Vista Thomas.
Virginia loved animals and if she had been able to, would have adopted/rescued any that she saw. She also loved her Washington Nationals baseball team. She never missed a game, knew every player, and she absolutely loved 3rd baseman, Anthony Rendon!
A memorial service in her honor will be announced at a future date to be determined. In lieu of flowers, we invite any who may wish to make a donation to their local animal shelter if they are able and please do something good for someone who needs it.
