Obituary of Vicky Elaine Garrett
Vicky Elaine Garrett, age 63, passed away on Friday, July 19, 2024 at Mary Washington Hospital in Fredericksburg, VA. Vicky died suddenly and her family is still reeling from the suddenness of her departure. She was born on December 6, 1960 in Cherry Point, North Carolina to the late James Painter and Edna Bell. Although her life ended far too soon she lived a full life. Vicky traveled extensively both in the United States and abroad. Living in Virginia, North Carolina, Tennessee, Georgia, California, Okinawa and Arizona. She traveled to Europe and the Far East. Vicky loved gardening and her favorite plant was the hydrangea. She loved to cook and experiment with a variety of recipes, some were successes and some not so much! She loved to crochet, and she had a unique skill in making crocheted pot holders, which she shared with all of her family and friends. She was an avid reader often consuming multiple books in one day and had a particular affinity for the Harry Potter series, much to the chagrin of her husband, Steve. Vicky struggled with a number of health issues during her life affecting her joints, as well as various internal maladies, but she always tried to put a brave face on in spite of the effect that these conditions had on her life. Vicky loved her children and she loved her grandkids. Vicky and I were married young and survived the ups and downs life gives you. She was my soul mate and constant companion for 42 years. She will be missed beyond my ability to articulate and the world is a far less appealing place without her in it. She is survived by her loving husband Steve; three children: Steve, Travis (Mary) and Jessica (Matt); eight grandchildren: Logan, Cooper, Dylan, Caleb, Hailynn, Ryker, Rowdy and Caroline; brothers: Mike and Matt; and sisters: Sara, Yvonne, and Courtney. A private burial will take place at Quantico National Cemetery. With a celebration of her life to follow at a location to be determined. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Stafford County SPCA ~ https://staffordspca.org/
