Obituary of Thomas "Jeff" Parsons
Thomas Jeffrey “Jeff” Parsons, age 60, passed away on Sunday, October 13, 2024 at Holston Valley Medical Center in Kingsport, TN. Jesus was ready for him, and he didn’t want to keep him waiting. He was born and raised in Pennington Gap, VA and later made his home in Fredericksburg, VA. At the age of 14, he gave his life to Christ; a decision that would set the trajectory for his life here on Earth. He was forever proud to know his Lord and Savior and would eventually heed the call to share the love and message of Christ as an ordained minister for the Southern Baptist Church. He earned a bachelor’s degree in ministry from Clear Creek Baptist Bible College. As a bi-vocational pastor, he worked hard to proudly earn his associate’s degree in mortuary science from John Tyler Community College. His careers would often go hand in hand. As a funeral director he would often happily offer his services as clergy for families in need. Jeff was most proud of his four amazing kids. His happiest moments were in the revelry of their achievements. He loved being known as their dad and always welcomed having a house full of their friends at any given time. He was just as proud to become a “papaw” and cherished every moment with his grandson. He was preceded in death by his parents, Billy “Backer Joe” and Norma Jean Parsons; his brother, Billy “Pwetzel” Parsons; his sister-in-law, Glennda Parsons; his niece, Asia Leshea Parsons; and his brother-in-law, Kenneth Stewart. Jeff is survived by his children, Aletha and husband Javier, John, Thomas, and Elisabeth; his grandson, Jordi; his siblings, Chuck and wife Jane, Joe, Misty, Nikki, and Pat (Sarah); and his nieces and nephews, Chayne, Jesse, Cody, Joy, Corey and wife Haley, JoJo, Hunter and wife Arianna, Asia, Jade, Faith, Mason, and Michael. A visitation for Jeff will be held Sunday, October 27, 2024 from 2:00 PM to 3:00 PM at Mullins & Thompson Funeral Service, 1621 Emancipation Hwy, Fredericksburg, Virginia 22401, followed by a memorial service at 3:00 PM.
