She was born September 12, 1969 in Falls Church, Virginia, daughter of the late Calvin Sexton and Virginia Haley. She grew up with brother Ray sexton and sister Rayliene sexton. Renee was the baby of the Sexton family. Renee had a young childhood full of love and laughter. She shared fond memories of hearing her mama sing in the church choir, doing outdoor stuff with her father. She even "helped" build the Sexton family home as a child with her father. At 13 she lost her mother to breast cancer.
At the age of 16 she welcomed her oldest child Elizabeth Rose Browne. Although young, she was an amazing mother and loved her daughter dearly. She was so happy to be a mother.
She tragically had to bury her father in 17. At 19, she welcomed her second child with Cliff Browne who also is the father of Elizabeth. Chiara Nicole Browne. She was excited to be a mother of 2. They all lived at the Sexton family home with her brother Ray, his wife Kim, Ray and Kim's daughters Holly and Rachel. She loved being with her family. She loved watching all 4 girls grow up together. She took the "sister" in sister in law to heart. She loved and adored her sister in law Kim.
In 1992, she lost her 3 year old daughter, Chiara. That was such a tough time for Renee but once again, she showed how strong and graceful she was and she continued to live her life.
She got married to Jay Smith on May 21st 1994 and they welcomed a daughter together. Julia Rae Smith born January 18th 1995.
Her and her long time partner, Terry Tompson for over a decade together up until her death.
Renee loved to help people. Anytime, anywhere. Even when she had breast cancer, she still helped everyone all the time.
She loved going to yard sales with her sister when they were younger. She loved music. From Elton John to outkast. She was so funny too. She even had someone convinced Reba was her sister and that she remembered being born. She had a joke for everything. She also LOVED cats. She would help any cat she saw. She has gone hungry just to make sure they had what they needed and she was SO GOOD at song parodies.
Her departure on earth means a beautiful reunion in heaven with her parents, her 3 year old daughter Chiara, her sister Rayliene, her best friend Grace Lynn Rose, her nephew Sonny Sexton and many more loved ones she's been waiting to reunite with.
Her loved ones including but not limited to, two daughters Julia Smith and Elizabeth Browne; son in law Tyler Stone;brother, Ray Sexton; her sister in law, Kim Sexton; nieces, Holly and Rachel granddaughter Skylar; partner, Terry Tompson; former husband and best friend Julius Smith Jr and her loving cats. Everyone will forever miss her.
A graveside service for Renee will be held on Thursday, May 11, 2023 at 2:00 PM at Zoan Baptist Church, 5888 Plank Rd, Fredericksburg, VA 22407. She will be laid to rest where her parents and daughter are resting.
