She was born on November 16, 1937, in Hagerstown, Maryland to the late Francis and Genevieve (Toner) Taylor.
A passionate lover of knowledge and family-Sandra was a beloved mother and devoted grandmother and was a dedicated teacher for 30 years in Spotsylvania County. Even after retiring in 2006, the students she taught and inspired were one of the proudest accomplishments in her life. Her grandchildren were her biggest source of joy, and she devoted her life to their happiness and well-being.
She spent much of her childhood growing up in Falls Church, VA. She and her family later moved to Assateague, VA, where she graduated as valedictorian of Parksley High School. She went on to further her education at Mary Washington College, where she received her BS, double majoring in both chemistry and physics, and was salutatorian of her college class. She was a voracious reader throughout her life, even reading a whole set of encyclopedias as a child.
She was a member of Falmouth Baptist Church, where she taught Sunday school for many years. She was also very active in her community. She served as president of Pleasant Valley Pool. She was very active in the PTA at Falmouth Elementary and served as room mother for many grade-school classes.
Predeceased by her parents; one son, Curt Fox; one brother, Francis Taylor IV and one nephew, Francis Taylor V.
Survivors include four children: Tamara Mangleburg (Scott) and their children: Grant and Ryan, Amy Jansson (Ed) and their children: Marina, Colin, Jared, Brianna, Carissa, Riley and Elliot, Steve Fox (Kami) and Jean Fox; one sister, Sharon Totman; and three great grandchildren: Braiden, Brinley and Zoe.
A visitation for Sandra will be held Saturday, January 25, 2025 from 12:00 PM to 1:00 PM. Following the visitation will be a memorial service at 1:00 PM at Mullins & Thompson Funeral Service, 1621 Emancipation Hwy, Fredericksburg, Virginia 22401.
