Michael George Bews

Michael was born August 21, 1958 in Milwaukee, Wisconsin, the son of Alexander and Betty Bews. As a child Michael was a gifted cellist and enjoyed playing in the family ensemble at church on Sundays. Michael continued to play the cello throughout his life and graced many with the beauty of his music. Michael graduated from Brookfield East High School before attending the University of Wisconsin Madison where he studied linguistics. He fostered a lifelong love of languages and religion, traveling the world as a missionary for the church.

Michael was preceded in death by his brother Paul, as well as his parents Alex and Betty. Survivors include his two brothers, Mark (Beth) Bews and Thomas (Kellie) Bews; two nieces, Elizabeth and Katherine Bews; and many dear friends across the country.

Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, a private family service will be held. In lieu of memorials and flowers, the family requests Michael’s memory be honored by making donations to the Thurman Brisben Center in Fredericksburg, VA or perform an act of kindness for a person in need.
