Joyce Wells Torreyson

Her parents were Henry Hamilton Wells and Helen Miles Wells of Gaithersburg, Maryland. She was born in Darnstown, MD. She graduated from Gaithersburg High School and married her high school sweetheart, Joseph Ellwood Torreyson. They lived in Rockville, MD and had two children Julie Ann and Joseph Kenneth Torreyson.

They later moved to Fredericksburg, VA in 1973, where they raised their family and ran the family Masonry Contracting business, which is three generations of Joe Torreyson Expert Masons. She took care of the clerical administration of the business, and was known locally as a secretary receptionist for Central Insurance, H & R Block, and a real estate company. She was involved in the Republican Party and was a counselor for Alanon.

She is survived by one sister Janet Wells Hough of Murphy, NC and brother in law James Kenneth Torreyson of Atlanta, GA. Also survived by her two children, Julie Torreyson Carneal-Jones and Joseph Kenneth Torreyson, Eight grandchildren- Melissa Bolinger, Jennifer Harris, David Carneal, Samuel Carneal, and Chelsea Carneal and Julianna Torreyson Dove, Jacqueline Torreyson, and Joanna Torreyson Worley.There are also eight great-grandchildren and one on the way. She was known by the family as Meemom and Granny Joyce, and will be missed by all.
