Jack was born on September 24, 1924 in Brooklyn, New York but grew up in Howels, New York. When Jack turned 17, he joined the U.S. Marine Corp and proudly served for 4 years fighting for our Freedoms during World War II as part of the 3rd Marine Regiment. Jack served his country in Iwo Jima and Guam.
President Trump recognized Jack in a private ceremony at the White House in February 2020 for his involvement in the Battle at Iwo Jima. This was a true honor for Jack and an experience he talked about for the last year of his life.
Jack worked in delivery and sales for Holmes to Holmes, Crusty Pie and Dolley Madison Bakery Companies for 40 years then for the Montgomery County Public Schools part time until his retirement.
Jack enjoyed golfing, dancing, boating and travelling with the love of his life Betty. He also loved competitive bowling, playing poker and Black Jack, watching westerns and laughing and joking with his family. Jack lived to see 5 generations - watching his 2 great grandsons grow up and play in sports and then saw 4 great great grandchildren join the family over the last 4 years.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made in his name to The Wounded Warriors and Tunnels to Towers.
