Irene was born in King George to Ludwell Lee Newton and Margaret Thurston Newton.
She was one of six children. Irene graduated from King George High School and retired after a long career with the Federal Government.
Irene enjoyed reading, spending time with her family, and caring for her cats.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her sisters, Parthenia N. Surles and Carolyn F. Powell; her brother, Otis L. Newton; a brother-in-law, Norman D. Vickers; and a niece, Leahcim B. Newton.
She is survived by her brother, Strother Lee Newton (Mildred) of Stafford; her sister, Linda D. Vickers of Spotsylvania; an aunt, Annie Ruth Catlett (Robert) of Stafford; a brother-in-law, Robert M. Surles of Stafford; a sister-in-law, Beverly E. Newton of King George and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.
