Gay Lynn Chewning

Gay Lynn Chewning, age 76, of Spotsylvania, Virginia passed away on Monday, October 21, 2024. She is survived by her loving husband of 35 years, Charles “Chuck” Chewning; her sister and best friend, Karen Robertshaw (Dan); her nephews, Mike Campbell and Jeff Campbell; her step son, Steve Chewning (Tammy); her step daughter, Tracy Chewning (Bruce Conner); her step grandchildren, Wade Chewning, Abigail Chewning & Andrew Chewning; and her beloved cats, Bootsie & Floppy. Gay was born and raised in Arlington, VA to the late Russell & Mary Free. She retired from Mary Washington Hospital where she enjoyed working security. She and Chuck loved going to craft shows and taking trips to Tennessee. She loved the Redskins and Nascar, watching (shopping) QVC and of course her cats. Gay had a heart of gold & never met a stranger. She was much loved & will be missed by all. In lieu of flowers please make a donation in Gay’s name to Olivet Church or SPCA. A visitation for Gay will be held Friday, October 25, 2024 from 12:00 PM to 1:00 PM at Olivet Methodist Church, 7676 Stubbs Bridge Rd, Spotsylvania, VA. Her funeral service will begin at 1:00 PM, with her burial to follow at the church cemetery.
