Born August 16th, 1921 in Washington DC, graduated from GWU Medical School in 1945 with ShirleyTowey, they married shortly after graduation. Garrett went on to serve in the Army in Korea. He became a renowned member of the medical community, practicing Neurosurgery in Northern Virginia. In 1981, he graduated from American University Law School. He practiced law in Denver Colorado until his retirement in 1994.
He is survived by his five children; G. Michael Swain, Jr., Ann Swain, Victoria Swain Cousins, Susan Swain Nissen and Theresa Swain Emory, 9 grandchildren and 11 great grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his wife of 63 years, Dr. Shirley T. Swain.
A funeral mass will be held at 10:30am on Friday, July 28, 2017 at St. Patrick Catholic Church, Ely’s Ford Rd., Fredericksburg, Va.
Interment will follow at St. Michael’s Catholic Church Cemetery in Ridge, MD.
