Ed, Two seconds more tonight at your service I would have gone up to the podium to say a few words about you, but Bishop Hubbard stood up just in the nick of time!  But I do want you to know what was in my heart, so this is what I would have said:  My name is 
Theresa and I didn't get to know Ed until he was already having his medical problems.  He seemed to do well after his lung surgery and when I did see him he ALWAYS had a ' hello smile'--every time!  When I'm having a bad day you can tell it!!  However, I have learned that when I have a bad day, I can simply start my day over and do so.  
There were times when he struggled to get a breath, but I never saw him play "poor little ole me" as I sometimes think I do when my hearing aids aren't working so well.  I missed not seeing Ed these last months and I am so sorry he is gone, but I know he is breathing just fine these days!

Dear Debbie, you are in my prayers. I can offer my love and pray for God to comfort you and all others during this sad time. I am really sad to hear about this. I have watched you dealing with your hubby and the hospital stays etc...I did not realize how things really were and for that I am sorry I might not have reached out like you might have needed.

Debbie, I am so so very sorry your loss of Ed your love. You are in my thoughts and prayers. You were Ed's salvation here on earth. A loving companion, caregiver, and now eternal companion.
