Dorothy Herndon Spitler

Dorothy Herndon Spitler, age 96, of Fredericksburg, VA passed away Tuesday, October 24, 2023 at her residence. She was born on October 23, 1927 in Fredericksburg, VA the daughter of the late William Nelson Herndon and Dora L. (Littrell) Brooks. She was preceded in death by her husband, Edward Lee Spitler, Jr;, son-in-laws, Frederick Moyers and Neil Mooney; daughter-in-law, Deborah V. Spitler. Survivors include two sons, William Edward Spitler of Martinsburg, WV, Robert C. “Smiley” Spitler of Spotsylvania, VA; two daughters, Janet L. Moyers of Spotsylvania, VA, Dorothy S. Mooney of Chester, VA; 5 grandchildren and 7 great grandchildren. A graveside service will be held at 10:00am Monday, October 30, 2023 at Oak Hill Cemetery, 1902 Plank Road, Fredericksburg, VA with Rev. Mary Pasternak officiating.
