Doris Jacqueline "Jackie" Bryant was born March 20, 1944 to Joe and Estelle Jones of Harlan County, KY. Jackie was one of eight children. At the age of 14, she met "the one" who would become the true love of her life, Ron Bryant. At the tender age of 15 and 17, they married and would spend the next 64 years together. Their marriage was blessed with two daughters, Debra and Ronda.
In 1967, both Jackie and Ron gave their hearts and lives to Jesus Christ. In 1972, they began their pastoral ministry in Ohio, later moving to Virginia and then Tennessee. For 50 years, Jackie served alongside her husband in evangelistic and pastoral ministries. She worked in all aspects of ministry as needed. These duties included children's church, youth programs, ladies ministries, Sunday school teacher, floral designer, cook, people greeter, janitor, as well as coordinating the food bank with weekly distributions, home visitations, ladies bible study, just to mention a few. Her desire to be a helpmate to Ron and of service for her Lord was the utmost importance to Jackie.
Aside from her help with Ron's ministry, she was appointed to be the state missionary leader of her church. She traveled to over 125 churches in Virginia, raising support and finances for world missions. She traveled to Africa and Antigua as a missionary to help train and set up youth camps. Jackie also accepted a pastoral position to a newly established church for a year until a permanent pastor could be appointed.
The Apostle Paul, at the closing of his life and ministry, wrote: I have fought the good fight, I have finished the race, I have kept the faith. Now there is in store for me THE CROWN OF RIGHTEOUSNESS, which the Lord, the righteous Judge, will award me on that day, and not to me only but to all who have longed for His appearing. Surely, this also is the final testimony of Jackie Bryant.
She leaves behind, her husband Ron, two daughters, Debra Munoz (Joe) and Ronda Bumgardner (Kenny). Five grandchildren, Joshua Chamberlin (Angie), Joseph Chamberlin (Karen), Diana Townsend (Kyle), Johnna Fields (Justin), Bryan Puckett. Additionally, Jackie was blessed with 13 great grandchildren.
Today we reflect on the abundant life of Jackie and celebrate her reunion with her Savior Jesus Christ.
