Diego would want you to know that he was a happy young man who represented his family well. He was at home on any soccer field he could find or in our backyard putting in rep after rep after rep. The sun would be down and we could no longer even see him. He would say, “I’ll be in in a minute.”
Diego battled lymphoma/leukemia from 1 December 2022 until 9 April 2024 and was seemingly on the precipice of victory until relapse set in on 26 December 2023. From 27 December 2023 until his passing on 9 April 2024, Diego was at his finest. His maturity, selflessness, and demeanor were contrary to that of a 17 year old who was presented his set of circumstances. With that, he achieved his victory; our family’s victory.
Survivors include his parents: Tony and Yesenia Arvizu; siblings: Tony Arvizu and wife Karla; Andrew, Gabriela, Javier, and Thalia Arvizu; and Angel Chinas; grandparents: Francisco and Maria Rodriguez, Aurelio and Maria Josefina Fabian, and Armando and Norma Arvizu.
Also survived by many tias/aunts, tios/uncles, primos/cousins and extended family. He also enjoyed the friendship of several wonderful teammates.
