Artie was born on July 12, 1952 to William Arthur Stone (Bill), a 1st generation immigrant from Estill County, KY and Ruth Stone, The Powhattan Princess.
Artie lived his formative years in the same house at the top of Pennyroyal Hill in Franklin, Ohio. He would continue to come back to that house to stay over the years and spent the last 7 years back at that house with his wife, Linda Leonard.
Artie could do anything. He spent his first 12 years of adulthood working more than 30 different jobs. From an auto mechanic to a janitor and everything in between. He was hired by GE and became an airplane mechanic where he worked for more than 30 years. Artie’s greatest accomplishments at work were building the first engine for the top secret stealth bomber and for fighting for the rights of his union sisters and brothers as a union advocate. He loved the outdoors, fishing, art music especially guitars and motorcycles.
Artie was preceded in death by his father Bill, his mother Ruth, his sister Linda Stone-Stephens, and his father-in-law Allen Cap Leonard.
Artie’s greatest accomplishment in life was creating and raising two wonderful children. He started off his family life in 1978 with the birth of his son Jason. Artie started all over again in 1994 with the birth of his daughter Deborah.
Artie is survived by his wife Linda Leonard his son Jason Stone of Evansville, IN, his daughter Deborah Barnett of Madisonville Kentucky, his grandson William Kobe Stone, granddaughter Louissa Brewer, Nephew Derek Stephens, Niece Kara Stephens, and mother-in-law Jenny Leonard.
Artie also left behind 5 previous step-children, 2 of his 3 ex-wives, dozens of cousins, nieces, nephews, family members, and friends.
Artie lived his life for GOD, his family, his union, and his friends, but not always in that order. Artie could walk in a room and transform it. Artie was the 3rd funniest person alive and never met a stranger. We are all better people for knowing him. He will be greatly missed.
