William L. Rudd, age 92, of Franklin, Ohio, died Sunday August 30, 2015 at home with his family at his bedside. He was born in Lincoln County, Tennessee on October 20, 1922 to Charles and Alberta (Hudson) Rudd. William went by many names, Bill, Luke, Lewis, Brother, Dad, Grandpa, Friend, and Mr. Rudd. He was loved and appreciated by everyone who met and knew him. He was preceded in death by his Father, Charles Rudd, Mother, Alberta Rudd, Son, Jerry Rudd, Brother, Lawson Rudd, Brother, J C Rudd, Sister, Mildred Burns, Sister, Dorothy Rudd, Grandson, Michael Gebhart, Granddaughter, Amy Rolph. William is survived by his wife June (Morris) Rudd; Four Daughters, Yvonne Shuck, Doris Eckert, Judy Rolph, Joyce LafFayette; a daughter-in-law Debbie Rudd; Son, Jim Rudd; 13 grandchildren; 23 great grandchildren; 2 great great grandchildren; Six Sisters, Lila Carvitti, Thelma Robbins, Evelyn Harris, Juanita Rudd, Ruby Franz, Betty Larison; numerous nieces and nephews. William served in the 3 C's; and enlisted in the US Army during WW II, he was with the 2nd Armored Division. He was in the European Africa Tour under General Patton and he landed at Normandy on the first day. He fought in the Battle of the Bulge and liberated France. His division was referred to as Hell on Wheels. After serving his country he returned home to Tennessee and came to Ohio for employment. He moved his young family to Franklin in 1954 and supported his community in the Jaycees. He delivered meals for the VFW and one of the few citizens who was able to help in the blizzard of 1978. He was employed with General Motors for 39 years and retired in 1986. William was an avid sports fan loving UK and Cincinnati Reds. Funeral services are 1:00 pm Thursday September 3, 2015 at Anderson Funeral Homes 1357 East Second Street Franklin, Ohio with Pastor Chuck Purvis officiating. Burial will be in Miami Valley Memory Gardens with military honors. Visitation will be Thursday from 11:00 am to 1:00 pm at the funeral home.
