William was born May 13, 1935 in Dayton, OH and went to Trotwood Madison schools until he left to help his grandparents on the farm. On May 16, 1956, he married the love of his life Donna Oyer and together they raised six sons and three daughters.
William owned and operated BilDona’s Auto Parts for over 40 years until he retired in the late 1990’s. During that same time William owned several standardbred racehorses, Dade Bay being his most loved. William was well known at Dayton Speedway and Kil-Kare where he spent a lot of time working on and watching his stock cars race until the 1970’s. He took great pride in seeing his son William, Jr. and grandson William III continue this legacy of racing. William had a passion for fishing, fond memories were made with his kids and grandkids spending time on the lake fishing. He also loved bird watching, feeding the squirrels, auctions, western movies and music. He was known for his quick wit, infectious smile, and his kind compassionate spirit.
William was preceded in death by his parents Elizabeth and Woodrow. He is survived by his wife Donna, his nine children, William Jr. (Regina), Debbie (Bill) Medley, David (Julie), Gary (Stefanie), Vicki (James) Gilman, Eric (Sandy), Lisa, Alan (Brandy) and Brian (Amy), twenty-nine grandkids and twenty-five great grandchildren. The family would like to thank the staff at Carlisle Manor and Hospice of Middletown for helping take exceptional care of William during this difficult time.
A memorial service will be held August 22nd, 2019 at 3 o’clock p.m. with a visitation beginning at 2 o’clock p.m. at Anderson Funeral Home 1357 East 2nd St. Franklin, Ohio. In lieu of flowers the family would like donations to be made in his name to Hospice of Middletown or the Alzheimer’s Association.
