Terry L. Smith

Terry L. Smith age 66, of Franklin, Ohio passed away Sunday, October 22, 2023 at Ohio’s Hospice of Butler and Warren Counties. Terry was born on November 22, 1956 in Middletown, Ohio to Chester and Martha Smith (Evans). Terry graduated from Carlisle High School in the class of 1975.

Terry was preceded in death by his parents; brother, Timothy Smith; daughter, Natasha (Combs) Smith; and his grand pup “Bear” Smith.

He was survived by his daughter, Jamie Smith; sons, Justin (Audrey) Smith, Nick (Ashley) Smith, and Matt (Kadi) Smith; grandchildren Lacie and Kaylee Tuttle, Samantha McClain Derek (Taylor), Dylan, and Kyliee Stidham, Kalynn Stevens, Gage Smith, Abigail Withrow, Karissa Browning and Savannah Smith; brothers, Anthony (Sandra) Smith, and Darrell (Joni) Smith. He is also survived by his precious pets Gizzy and Spyro; as well as many family and friends.

Terry retired from the Franklin Police Department after 31 years of service. He served from 1988 – 2019. He had many roles during his times with the department; starting with Patrolman, Detective, and School Resource Officer.

He was a member of the Carlisle Fire Department where he served as Lieutenant, Joint Emergency Medical Services where he served as an EMT and Appleton Papers. All of which brought him to his passion of being a police officer, where he worked for the Warren County Sheriff Office, Carlisle Police Department, and the Franklin Police Department. He had a passion for crafts, and woodworking. After retirement Terry also worked with his son Matt, running the Franklin Gun Vault and his good friend Dave at Hamptons Home Services.

A visitation for Terry will take place on Saturday, October 28, 2023 from 1:00 pm – 4:00 pm at Anderson Funeral Home 1357 E. Second Street Franklin, Ohio 45005. Funeral service will immediately follow at 4:00 pm.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Anderson Funeral Home to assist with end-of-life expenses.
