Pauline was born in Canton, Ohio, on May 6, 1922, to Thomas and Mabel Linn, the oldest daughter of five children. She was raised in Wyandotte, Michigan, and graduated from Roosevelt High School there in 1940.
Pauline was a veteran of World War II, serving in uniform as a Coast Guard SPAR in Palm Beach, New Orleans and Honolulu. She was awarded the American Campaign and WWII Victory medals for her service.
After the war, she attended Hillsdale College in Michigan and then graduated from Occidental College in Los Angeles.
While at Occidental, Pauline met her future husband Raymond L. Curran, who was attending UCLA, and they were married in 1949. After Ray's graduation from the University of Michigan Law School in 1952, the couple moved back to Southern California and made Whittier their home for nearly 60 years. Ray practiced law with Gibson, Dunn and Crutcher, retiring in 1987.
In 2011, Pauline and Ray moved to Edgewater retirement community in West Des Moines, Iowa, to be closer to family.
Pauline was a dedicated homemaker and volunteer, holding offices in PEO, PTA, AAUW and Whittier Assistance League. She was a devoted member of the Whittier Area Community Church, serving on the board and singing in the choir.
Pauline loved to travel; she and Ray visited six continents and took the whole family on trips worldwide. She loved swimming, going to movies, reading and became an avid walker. But most of all, Pauline adored people and was at her happiest when organizing gatherings of family and friends.
Pauline was preceded in death by her sister Jane Linn Schuler and her brothers Donald, Thomas and John.
Pauline is survived by her husband Raymond L. Curran of West Des Moines, Iowa; her three children Laurie Rob Curran Hernandez of Essex, Connecticut, Kevin Mary Curran of Earlham, Iowa and Jeffrey Curran of Woodbury, Minnesota; and her three grand-children Alexander Hernandez, Christopher Hernandez and Chloe Linn Curran.
A private graveside service will be held at Mound Cemetery, Monroe, Ohio.
