Owen David Bowling, age 84, of Carlisle, Ohio passed away on Saturday January 11, 2025 at his residence. He was born on January 5, 1941 in Altro, Kentucky to the late Johnny and Armine Bowling. He was the 13th child of 16 and the 8th son.
Pastor Bowling accepted the Lord as his Savior on October 8, 1968. In 1979, by a vision from the Lord, he reopened the same church on Spring Ave. where he was saved and started the Free Pentecostal Church of God. In 1989, as the church grew, he saw a greater need to expand the church and relocated to 5287 Dixie Highway in Franklin, OH. In addition to pastoring, his work career included welding, tool & die, and plant manager of the Dayton Superior corporation before joining the ministry full time. He was truly a jack of all trades. In the early 2000s, he obtained his Bachelor's Degree in Theology from Life Christian University to further his knowledge of the gospel. In addition to shepherding his congregation, he loved spending time with family, fishing, boating, and eating out.
He was preceded in death by his parents and 15 siblings.
Pastor Bowling is survived by his wife of 63 years, Norma Kay Bowling; son, Woody Bowling and wife Bonnie, daughter Tracy Bowling-Stevens and husband Kevin, Shawn Bowling and wife Krista; grandchildren, Gaby Baver and husband Ryan, Izzy Bowling, Lauren Stevens, Samantha Bowling, Liz Stevens; great grandson, Beau David Baver; as well as his precious congregation, extended family and friends.
