kristi and girls, i will always remember your dad as a wonderful neighbor, my first real neighbor as an adult. his wonderful upbeat personality was always inspirational to me. he is the reason we began going to southbrook church. in all the years since, i never had a neighbor who was so great. typing this now has me with tears in my eyes and i am so sorry that i hadn't seen mike since my divorce. just know i am thinking of you all now and pray for you all.

While our life on earth is measured in years, Mike's life can be measured by the impact he made. What a great man! He was one of the kindest, upbeat and optimistic people I have ever met. He was loved by everyone. We'll miss him but will be forever blessed by his grace in our lives. God bless you and your family.

Mike changed my life in one chance encounter while flying together for Jetstream in 1988. While making small talk during one of may flights that day Mike asked in a very brother like way,"who is Jesus To you?" ( I'm thinking~ what did this guy just ask?) I tap danced around that for a few minutes then Mike says "No-who is Jesus to YOU?" I remember like yesterday the empty feeling I had at that moment and the chill that came over me.Jesus was not in my life and I would avoid letting into my life for years. I never forgot Mike Smith or his question that day. Flash forward to today and I wish I had the chance to tell Mike directly that Jesus has become and is my Lord and Savior.Thank You Mike.

I do not know Michael. but after reading his obituary, I could feel his soul. His obituary must be indicative of who he is. I read it out loud to my family, "thats real life" My prayers and condolences are with you in your lost. But by reading your celebration service of his life, I don''t know if condolence is the right word, I envy that I did not know him. Be Blessed, as you have been.

 I was so saddened to hear of your loss and I wanted you to know that my prayers and love go out to you and your family. I think of you often and wish we could have time to sit down and visit. I was one of Michael's cousins from Maine. We didn't know each other very well, but I remember talking with Michael and getting to know him a little better when we visited Ohio for a family reunion a few years ago. Eric and I were very impressed with him and his lovely wife, Kristi. His passion for Christ was contagious, and I always wished that we could reconnect with them SOMETIME just to get to know them better. What a wonderful testimony he left. We will be praying for Kristi, the girls, and all of the family as they walk through this valley. "His mercies are new every morning....Great is Thy faithfulness"

Wow - it is difficult to believe that God has called for Mike so early in a worldly timeframe, but we know the time is not for us to choose. Mike touched a lot of people. Patty and I were fortunate to have served with Mike on many occasions. He never hesitated to call us for help and we could never resist the urge to serve. That feeling was instilled in us by Mike's leadership example. Many people "talk the talk" but Mike truly "walked the walk". We will all miss him dearly and our prayers will be for you, Kristi, Peanut Butter & Jelly.

I first fell in love with Michael in kindergarten and then again in 7th grade. By the time we got to high school it was the "best friend" kind of love and our group was inseparable. Kristi and I were childhood friends and I was heartbroken when she moved to Crestview. Then came college years - got to spend some time with Mike on spring break at Nanci's. My marriage & baby - lost track of Mike & Kristi and then next thing I know they are getting married! Wonderful to re-connect and thrilled that two of my very dear friends would be together. So sorry that these years have flown by and we didn't get to see you again. I always got an update from your parents whenever I saw them. 



There's a hole in my heart that will never be filled with the loss of my friend.

Michael was an adorable young boy when I first became acquainted with him and his wonderful family...I later married his cousin, Gerald, and was blessed to be a part of such a hard-working,loving, caring bunch! As Michael grew, he came to know the Lord in a mighty way and I most remember hearing him preach God's word in the First Christian church in Lisbon, as his lovely wife Kristi sang...his love of the Lord so apparent, I know he has touched many, many lives and the words "Well done good and faithful servant" exemplifies his life..Our love and prayers to all his dear immediate family...as all of his family, including aunts, uncles, cousins...will miss him....But, hold on to hope, as we will see him again, in eternity...our prayers for peace and comfort are unceasing...God bless you all...

I was fortunate to have Michael as a cousin. Although our busy farm families didn't have many chances to be together growing up, whenever we were Michael was always a highlight! No matter the time or place, he had a smile on his face for you that made you feel loved and appreciated. We'll all miss those moments, luckily we'll see him again someday. I'm sure he'll be waiting at the gates to hug those he loves!

When i think about Michael , i remember his smile and laugh. Whenever i was near the Smith family there was always laughter, as well as good natured ribbing. Michael is a warm,and kind person and a fine young man. God bless his family at this difficult time.

Many memories of Mike during his younger years. From the rock-a-thons, to church camp, Christmas plays , sing-a-longs , playing hide and seek in the church and everything else involved with the church. He was such a wonderful soul then. So I know he has become an exceptional one during his adult years. I grieve with all of you during this time and pray you find strength and peace to help you through. Many hugs for all of you.
