It hard to put into words, to describe Granny. There’s just simply no one quite like her. I never knew someone who could look at someone, or something, and see it completely perfect for what it was. No changes needed. She saw things with a pure ness to them. Grandma welcomed all people to her home, I think she was happiest with a home full of kids, while she was cooking up her biscuits and gravy, eggs, sausage, the works. I feel so blessed for all the countless laughs I’ve shared with granny over the years, countless phone calls, Lord knows Id talked her ear off. I feel beyond blessed to be the mother of three of her great grand daughters. She was the best great grand mother you could ask for. The kids were everything. Y’all just come on down now. That’s what she would say. And then no matter how long we would stay, whenever we went to leave, she’d say, now you don’t have to be in no hurry. :) grandma. I want to thank you for teaching us so much, and you don’t even know it. We are all forever better people for knowing you. I love you. 

It’s hard to say Good Bye to someone like Granny.  Losing her  was a big loss for this world. 
Anyone who met her, was blessed to have known her.
I never heard Granny  say an unkind word about anyone.  She would always help someone when she could. 
She would listen to someone complain about someone else, and she would just smile and say “Well”
She would never agree or disagree, she would just smile 
She talked about “the good Lord” and “HE knows what He is doing”
Granny was the example of what we all need to be and how we all need to treat each other.
All you had to do is just look at Granny, and she would smile as big as could be.
It was impossible not to love her.  She was kind to every person and creature she ever met.
I remember once going over to Granny’s house to pick up Jennifer.  That is back when Jen and Blake did not have driver’s licenses.  Well, it was dinner time,  SHE INSISTED THAT I STAY FOR DINNER.
She had an entire table full of lots of food, it was like a feast.  I had a plate full of food and she kept asking if I wanted MORE.  
Granny loved people and dogs and especially BABIES.  She would hold a baby and just smile from ear to ear.  She would hold the baby for so long and not take her eyes off of the baby.  It was as if she was studying every detail of that child.  I think she was admiring God’s beauty and the miracle of a child. 
I was blessed to be invited  on a weekend to Tennesse  with Cindy and Granny, Ernie,  and Blake and Jenn and the girls.  They rented a cabin in the woods.  It was so beautiful and peaceful.  
I sat on the porch with Granny for a few hours.  We just breathed in that country air.  I held her hand and she smiled.  She told me about what it was like as a young girl for her and she used to work at GM. She loved being a mother and grandmother and she felt that she had had a very blessed life.
As I think of Granny, I am taking her sweet smile with me, and in my heart and mind, I will close my eyes and will see her smile.


I am so grateful that I was able to meet and care for Lena for the last several weeks. I wish it had lasted longer and I am heartbroken that it ended so soon. In the little time I had with her, a bond was forming and I enjoyed every moment I spent with her. She was without a doubt one of the sweetest and kindest people I have ever had the opportunity of knowing and she had an incredible impact on me. God brought her into my life, and mine into hers for a reason, and although it was only meant to be for such a small amount of time, he specifically brought us together. I feel so blessed that I was given the opportunity to get to know her and her family and I am absolutely honored that God chose me to care for such an amazing woman! My thoughts and prayers are with Cindy and the entire family! She was so loved, and will be so missed!

I couldn’t have hand picked a better mother. Grandmother ( mamaw) for my children and their children.  God blessed me for having her as long as I did even then though I didn’t want to let her go. She’s been my best friend , the person I admire most in this world. I have no doubts that the doors to heaven were standing wide open to receive her. I wish I was half the person she was. There won’t be a day I  won’t miss her or want to show or tell her something. She was happiest making others happy. Her family was always number one to her. She loved her flowers. Fishing.  Children. And carried out Gods plan to do right . No one can say one bad thing about her. I will always miss her and feel blessed to have been able to call her Mom
