Janet Louise Martin

Janet Louise Martin passed away on August 28, 2022, at the Otterbein Lebanon Senior Life Community in Lebanon, Ohio. She was 95. She was born on February 1, 1927 to Floyd and Florence Kunkel in Morrow County, Ohio

She grew up on the family farm in Morrow County. She was a 1944 graduate of Johnsville High School. She moved to Bellville, Ohio shortly after graduation and worked at the Farmers Bank. While working at the bank she met her future husband, William (Bill) Martin, upon his return from World War II. They were married for 68 years until his death in 2014.

She lived her adult life in Bellville prior to moving to the Otterbein Lebanon Senior Life Community in 2011. For several years she was a homemaker and a loving mother for her two sons. Later, she worked for several years at the Garber Insurance Company (Celina Insurance) until her retirement.

She is survived by her two sons, Terrence (Sandy) Martin of Marengo, Ohio and James (Kathy) Martin of Franklin, Ohio. She is survived by one sister, Lois Ann Steere, of Fort Wayne, Indiana. She is also survived by five grandchildren and 14 great-grandchildren.

Janet enjoyed cooking, housekeeping and working in her flower beds. She was a member of the Bellville Presbyterian Church and a charter member of the Bellville Historical Society.

Janet had great memories of growing up in rural Morrow County. She even attended a one room school during her elementary years. She also enjoyed living her married life in Bellville and raising her family there.

She will be laid to rest in the Bellville Cemetery at a private graveside service at a future date. In lieu of flowers, the family request donations be made to the Bellville Presbyterian Church or Otterbein Hospice.
