Hazel graduated from high school in Winslow, ME and attended Gordon College in Boston, MA. She was married to her beloved husband, Rev. Dr. Howard R. Keeley for 64 years, who preceded her in death in 2015. She shared in ministry by teaching, music, speaking and visitation. She helped many Chinese students with English as a Second Language. Many remain friends to this day. She also worked for a real estate firm on the North Shore of Boston as Office Manager and obtained her license as a Realtor Associate.
Hazel & Howard retired in Palm Harbor, Fl. where they lived for 24 years until Howard moved to heaven. While living in Florida, they stayed at their cottage on the Maine coast from late spring until early fall each year. They loved to travel and visited most of the National Parks, Presidential Libraries, Canyons, Rockies (U.S. and Canada) and other places of interest. Both enjoyed planning their trips, driving and just being together.
April of 2017, Hazel moved to Bethany Village in the Homestead independent living to be near her daughter and family She was a floor representative for several years and an active volunteer within the Bethany community. She was able to be an important part of her great grandchildren’s lives.
Hazel will always be loved by: son - Howard Scott Keeley & wife Cidalia; daughter - Beverly Horstman & husband Bill; three grandsons - Dr. Tyler S. Keeley & wife Dr. Kristen; Zak Keeley; Travis Horstman & wife Shannon; and four great grandchildren - Will & Annabelle Horstman; Emilia & Leandro Keeley; and her Chinese children Ling & Dave Chen.
A Celebration of Life Service will be Saturday, January 27th at 1 pm at Bethany Village Center, Grand Room (6443 Bethany Village Drive, Centerville, Ohio) Please join us for this celebration of a life well lived.
