Doug Holt, age 61, of Franklin, Ohio, peacefully passed away on Sunday, July 21, 2024. He was surrounded by loved ones in the same home where he grew up and lovingly cared for his parents when they needed him most in their senior years.
Doug was born in Middletown, Ohio, on October 10, 1962, to the late Lloyd Cleveland “L.C.” and Dorthy Holt. He spent his childhood alongside his sisters Cathy and Patty, and they were the generation that played outside and ran the streets with the many kids between River and Main Street who became lifelong friends.
From a young age, Doug could take apart and fix anything. That skill was only matched by his passion for hunting and fishing. He had a few seasoned mentors who taught him how to train dogs, find the best hunting spots, and catch the big fish. Those traditions and skills were shared with friends and family.
Doug is survived by his devoted sisters Cathy (Bob) Fisher and Patty (Alvin) Hale, his beloved daughters Leslie (Zach) Thomas, Laura (Mike) Haney, and Lindsay (Christopher) Schwieterman, and his sweet, maybe a little ornery, grandchildren Jackson and Adam Thomas, Ethan Haney, Kate, and Emily Schwieterman, along with loving nieces and nephews.
Doug will be fondly remembered for his determination, wit, and unwavering support. His final wish for Jackson to be his resting place will be honored by friends and family. Hunting there brought him immense joy that started over 40 years ago and continues today with the future generations.
Visitation will be held from 5:00 to 7:00 pm on Thursday, July 25, 2024, at Anderson Funeral Homes, 1357 East Second Street, Franklin, Ohio. All are welcome to join the family afterwards as we honor and remember Doug 6:00-9:00pm. New Vine Community Church at 4900 State Route 123, Franklin, Ohio.
