Christinia Louise King Atkins, McFarland, affectionately known as Chris, went on to her eternal glory on July 8, 2024, in Middletown, Ohio at the age of 93. Born on November 8, 1930, in Irvine, Kentucky, Chris lived a life marked by devotion to her faith, family, and community.
Chris spent her career as a service clerk at Jones’s and department head at Sears and Roebuck, where she was known for her diligent work ethic and kindness. Her commitment to her community extended into her personal life, where she was an active member of the Franklin Church of God in Franklin, Ohio.
A creative soul, Chris had a passion for crocheting, cross-stitch, singing, and crossword puzzles. Her melodious voice was a staple in her church's choir for many years, and in the many songs she sang for her children and grandchildren. Her handmade crafts brought joy to many. Chris's love for nature was evident in her admiration for butterflies and birds, especially cardinals and blue jays.
Chris is survived by her children, Frank King, Sheila Barker, and Curtis (Patty) King; her sister, Cheryl Jackson; her grandchildren, Stacie (Johnny) Williams, Amanda Riddell, Chanda Richards, Jennifer Thery, Rob King, and Ron (Amanda) King; along with 17 great-grandchildren and 4 great-great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents, Cordie Powell and Frank McFarland; her husband, Edward King; her son, Edward King Jr.; her siblings, Clara Bryant, Linville McFarland, Elsie VanCleve, Bobbie Caron, and Ruth Howard; her granddaughter, Deanna Scott and her great-grandson, Ethan King.
A visitation will be held from 10 a.m. to 12 noon on Monday, July 15, 2024, at Anderson Funeral Home in Franklin, OH, followed by the funeral service at 12 noon and burial at Woodhill Cemetery in Franklin, OH.
In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to Hospice of Warren and Butler County in memory of Chris. Anderson Funeral Home in Franklin, OH, is assisting the family during this time. Chris’s legacy of kindness, creativity, and devotion will be cherished and remembered by all who knew her.
