Charles Phillip Back, 79, of Middletown, Ohio, passed to glory on July 25, 2024, at home, surrounded by his loving family. Born on July 3, 1945, Charles led a life marked by unwavering dedication to his family, a passion for the outdoors, and a deep appreciation for art and history.
He is survived by his devoted wife of 60 years, Mary Louise (Harr) Back; his sons, Charles Michael Back (Carole), Kevin Phylip Back (Cindy), and Matthew Roy Back (Dominique); and his cherished grandchildren, Cody, Eli, and Ryan. He also leaves behind his siblings Larry Back, June Nohitsch, Anne Turner, Marcella Brown, Ike Deaton, and Thomas Mullins. Charles was preceded in death by his mother, Georgia Deaton (Perdue), father, John Back, and sister, Teresa Collier.
A proud graduate of Lemon-Monroe High School, Charles dedicated 36 years to Aeronca, supporting his family while nurturing his personal passions. He was a lifelong lover of quilting, a craft he cherished and learned from his mother. Charles also had a keen interest in photography, particularly capturing the charm of old covered bridges, preserving a piece of history through his lens.
Charles had a deep love for adventure and the great outdoors. Over the years, he took his family on memorable trips, visiting 45 of the 50 states and sharing countless experiences across the country. His passion for camping and hiking was matched only by his love for animals, especially his loyal dogs Rosie, Maggie, Lily, and Sunshine.
A visitation will be held on Friday, August 2, 2024, from 10:00 a.m. until 12:00 p.m. at Anderson Funeral Home, 1357 E. 2nd Street, Franklin, Ohio 45005. A funeral service will follow at 12:00 p.m. Burial will take place at Heritage Hills Memory Gardens.
Charles will be remembered for his unwavering support of his family, his creative talents, and his kind heart. His legacy of love, artistic passion, and adventurous spirit will continue to inspire and be cherished by all who knew him.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorial donations be made to Hospice Care of Middletown.
