Visitation will be held from 9:00 AM until Celebration of Life at 11:00 AM on Friday, April 12, 2024 at Lighthouse Missionary Baptist Church 321 Center Street New Iberia, Louisiana. Pastor Allen R. Randle, Sr., Officiant. Burial will follow in the Heavenly Rest Cemetery in Jeanerette, LA.
On Thursday, April 4, 2024, the Lord called home one of his angels, Ricky Lee Thomas. Ricky was born on December 23, 1957, to the late Henry, Sr. and Jessie Mae Thomas.
He dedicated 33 years of his life as a painter and sandblaster to Gulf Craft. Outside of work, Ricky was an avid Dallas Cowboys fan. Memories of this wonderful Husband, Father, Brother, Grandfather, Uncle, and Friend will remain in the hearts of his loving and devoted wife of 46 years, Debra Thomas; four daughters, Kedra Fields, Rosa Thomas, Josephine Thomas, and OangeRenee Thomas all of New Iberia, LA; one brother, Wayne (Joyce) Thomas of Verdunville, LA; two grandsons, Tyrick Fields and John Bowie, III both of New Iberia, LA; three great-grandsons, Rylun Fields, Kylen Fields, and Kyrie Fields all of New Iberia, LA; a niece he helped to raise, Jessica D. Johnson of Verdunville, LA; an honorary son, Chad Gunner of Atascocita, TX; two half-brothers, Ron (Sarah) Hawkins of Wichita, KS and John Hawkins of Amarillo, TX; three half-sisters, Margaret Faye Colar and Greta Francis both of Baldwin, LA, and Karen Lovely of Bayou Vista, LA; five sisters-in-law, Joan Thomas, Maggie Thomas, Shelia Jones, Cynthia Fleming, and Pamela Randle; four brothers-in-law, Rev. Larry Jones, Sr., Wallace Fleming, Pastor Allen Randle, Sr., and Wilfred Fields; two goddaughters, Faith Jones and Kaitlin Odubona; devoted friends, Lisa Compton, Lynn Foxworth, Elaine Garrison, and Belinda Joseph; as well as a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
Ricky was preceded in death by his parents, Henry “Kotchie Boy ” Thomas, Sr. and Jessie Mae Lee Thomas; five brothers, Lester Thomas, Gerry Thomas, Sherman Thomas, Henry Thomas, Jr., and Harry Lee Thomas; two sisters, Cindy Lou Thomas and Jean Thomas Darby; two half-brothers, Timothy Hawkins and Carl Ray Hawkins, Sr.; his parents-in-law, Rev. Joseph and Rosa Lee Fields; three brothers in-law, Henry Darby, Sr., Melvin Fields, and Vernon Fields, and one sister-in-law, Brenda Ely.
