July 7, 1959 – May 24, 2021
Yvonne Smith Farson, beloved wife, mother, sister, aunt and friend, passed away suddenly the evening of May 24, 2021 in Colorado Springs, CO. She was born in Soda Springs, Idaho on July 7, 1959 to Frank Corbridge and Vera Marie (Hamp) Smith. She spent the first 17 years of her life in Grace, Idaho and Big Piney and LaBarge, Wyoming.
She married Kenneth L. Beckstead on August 4, 1975. They spent most of their marriage on one U.S. Army base or another, the majority of that time being in Frankfort, Germany and Ft. Carson, Colorado. They were blessed with five children during their 20 year marriage and were friendly after the divorce.
On November 5, 1997, Yvonne married Brian Farson and spent the rest of her life with him in Colorado Springs. With Brian came an amazing friendship with his mother, Judy Farson. Yvonne adored her and was so grateful she was part of the package. Brian and Yvonne were also blessed with an immense love of animals and shared their life with many beloved dogs, cats and ferrets. Together they grew vegetables in their backyard garden and perused online sources for new recipes to make with them. Along the way, Yvonne would find other dishes that looked good and mention it. Brian would then endeavor to make those for her when possible. He tried every day to let her know he loved her.
Yvonne traveled with her family as a young wife and mother, but as she matured, she preferred staying home with the exception of trips to family reunions and to experience the joy of Native American Sundance gatherings in the Blue Mountains of Oregon.
She is preceded in death by her parents; Frank C. and Vera M. Smith, mother-in-law, Judy Farson, and two nephews, Ricky McCammon and Jerry Dee Weeks, Jr.
Yvonne leaves behind her husband, Brian; her children, Kenneth LeRoy Beckstead, Jr, Venda Marie Beckstead, Vickie Lynn (Nick) Beckstead, Debrah Diane (Jaysen) Bassett, and Frank Allen Beckstead; grandchildren, Andrew, Ally, Bradon, Mat, Morgan, Melody, Anakin, Travian, Terrell, Tristin, Trinity, Makati, and Matilda; siblings Penny (Mike) McCammon, Cory (Sue) McCammon, Yvette (Jerry) Weeks, Arlina (Don) McLain, Larry (Rolleena) Smith, Patricia (John) Hysong and Ervin (Sue) Smith; special friend and honorary daughter Jennifer Brethauer, her husband and their children.
