Troy L. Burrell passed away December 13, 2020 at the age of 78 from complications caused by COVID-19. He was preceded in death by his loving wife, Deborah, his son Scott, his parents James and Irene, and his siblings Hersey, Earl, Rusty, David, Faith, and Perry. He is survived by his children, Jennifer Stacy (David), Richard Burrell (Miriam), and Sharon Seltenreich; Grand-Children Aaron (Ashley), Samantha (Bill), Brianna, Nathan, Christopher, Joshua, Robert, and Tasha; Great Grand-children Zooey, Stephen, Gideon, and James. He is also survived by his brother Dale Burrell.
Troy served in the U.S. Navy for 2 years and then served 11 years in the U.S. Army. He was a proud member of the 75th Ranger Regiment, 2nd Battalion “B” Company. After his military service ended, Troy spent several years driving Trailways buses, achieving the milestone of 1 million miles driven, all accident free. He then obtained the training to become an HVAC technician which led him to start his own HVAC business that he operated for several years until he retired.
After he retired, he spent his time with his wife Deborah whom he loved deeply. Troy and Deborah loved to travel and see our country. Those that knew Troy knew he loved to drive. He was proud of the fact that he had been to every state in the United States. Both Troy and Deborah were devoted Christians and never hesitated to spread the word of God no matter where they happened to be, which explains the many, many road trips.
Troy was also an avid motorcycle enthusiast. Both he and Deborah enjoyed riding motorcycles and would often use this as an opportunity to talk with people. Those that had the pleasure of knowing Troy knew he “loved to talk”.
A visitation for friends and family is scheduled January 10, 2021 from 4:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. at Dove-Witt Family Mortuary, located at 6630 S. 85/87, Fountain, CO 80817. He will be laid to rest on January 11, 2021 at 11:00 a.m. at Pikes Peak National Cemetery, 10545 Drennan Rd., Colorado Springs, CO 80925.
In lieu of flowers, his family requests a memorial contribution be made in Troy’s honor to any organization that serves our veterans.
Because it was COVID-19 that played a part in Troy’s passing, his family encourages all those that choose to attend the visitation and or his burial service adhere to CDC protocols for protection from COVID-19.
