Roger B. Rhodes, passed away on January 09, 2021 after a year long stoic battle with brain cancer. He was born in Oregon City, Oregon, February 07,1953 to Cecile (Bouse) Rhodes and the late Earl Rhodes.
Roger was raised and graduated high school in Oregon City, OR. where he lived with his mother Cecile Pearson, the late Roy Pearson, sisters April and Connie Rhodes, step brothers John and Brian Pearson and Stepsister Lorna Lane(Pearson). Roger always had fond recollections of his youth and family adventures as well as his hometown lifelong friendships. He later joined the US Army in 1975 and served 20 years before retiring in 1995 and settling down with his family in Colorado Springs, CO. He then became a real estate agent until joining the US Postal Service as a mail carrier from which he retired in 2015.
Roger’s diagnosis and operation to remove a Grade 4 Glioblastoma tumor occurred in the last week of January 2020. He went through all the prescribed treatments with bravery, strength, courage and loving support of his family. One of his last requests was to let everyone know he loves them always.
Roger enjoyed hunting, fishing, exploring, rockhounding, landscaping and routing for the Rockies and Broncos. He was especially passionate about going back to Oregon annually to enjoy time with family and relax at the Oregon Coast. He was a loving, devoted husband, father, and grandfather who imparted as much wisdom as he thought was necessary, but not so much as to leave room for trial and error. He had an easy going, laid back personality that made him so comfortable to be around...unless there was competition involved. His competitive side was unrelenting and infectious. He could turn a leisurely game of catch into a fastball deathmatch within minutes. His charm, humor, love and companionship will be sorely missed by anyone who knew this wonderful man.
Roger was preceded in death by his grandparents, William and Minnie Rhodes, grandparents Roger and Opal Bouse, father Earl Rhodes, step father Roy Pearson, step daughter Tiegan Burress and step son Michael Burress.
