RANDY RAY DANIEL, USAF, MSgt (ret)
10/6/1952 – 6/10/2011
After 17 years battling cancer, heart failure, liver failure, and despite the efforts of the finest physicians in Colorado, Randy slipped peacefully into the presence of his savior, Jesus Christ, on Friday, June 10, 2011.
A special thank you to our beloved Pikes Peak Hospice team who became our second family and an extra covering of love and security during the last five months of Randy’s life. You provided TLC to us in ways we never could have imagined.
Randy was born October 6, 1952 to Wanda and Jack Daniel in Dallas, Texas. He lived in Dallas until he joined the United States Air Force in the early ‘70s and spent tours of duty in Mississippi (twice), Texas, Louisiana, Japan, Nebraska, Germany (twice), Saudi Arabia, and Colorado Springs (twice).
He is survived by his parents, his wife, Julie (nee Bauer); son, Clinton, of Spring Hill, Florida; daughter, Jennifer (and Wade) Stevenson, of Colorado Springs; son, Brian (and Nellie), of Colorado Springs, and daughter, Emily (and Earl) Scott, of Colorado Springs. He was predeceased by his first grandchild, Abigail Trumbull, but is survived by six others, and his four-legged canine companion, Sally.
Randy is also survived by his older brother, Danny (and Linda) of Grand Prairie, TX, and his younger brother, David (and Deanna), of Lake George, Colorado, as well as some very special nieces and nephews.
During Randy’s healthy days in the Air Force, he was an accomplished Toastmaster who traveled to various locations in the Southeastern United States for public speaking engagements. Also while in the Air Force, Randy oftentimes planned and emceed various social events such as banquets and outdoor field days.
It was in 1992, during Randy’s last tour in the Air Force, that he began to pursue an earnest relationship with the Lord. He devoted his leadership talents to his local church, and became involved with Promise Keepers as well.
Serious health problems began for Randy in January, 1994. Without complaint, he limited himself to more sedentary interests such as reading, especially about terrorism, religious cults and the Middle East. He also became the in-house computer expert.
Randy was a soft-spoken, quiet man after God’s own heart. If there were anything he would want to say to you at this moment, it would be, “I can’t wait to see you in Heaven someday.”
Pastor Brian Michaels will officiate a Celebration of Life for Randy on Friday, June, 24,2011 at 1:00 p.m. at Calvary Fellowship Fountain Valley, 6436 S. US Hwy 85/87, Suite R, Fountain, CO 80817 (west entrance behind Applebee’s restaurant).
