SSG (Ret.) Patrick J. Hernandez, beloved husband, father, son, and brother, passed away at home on June 29, 2019 in Colorado Springs, Colorado. Born in Bellevue, Nebraska, November 21, 1975, he graduated from Alamogordo High School, New Mexico. Having been introduced to military life via his dad's Air Force career, Patrick enlisted in the Army, with a passion for defending our country by leading and protecting those he served with. His 21 year career of service can be best described as "a leader of soldiers influencing others to accomplish the mission by providing purpose, direction and motivation through placing their needs above his own" in places as diverse as Texas, Hawaii, Florida, Washington, and Colorado as well as overseas in Cuba and two tours in Iraq.
Patrick was a complex, passionate, empathetic soul who'd give the shirt off his back or the last dollar in his wallet because he sensed the need and wanted to help. He had a quick wit, was quite a storyteller, and could always make us laugh. He loved watching his boys participate in their favorite sports, as well as "sampling restauants", watching movies, the WWE, and a big fan of the NY Yankees and the Green Bay Packers.
Patrick leaves behind and will be greatly missed by his beloved wife Theresa; sons, Patrick Jr., Kevin, and Brett; parents, Lou and Trish; brother Tom; as well as extended family and friends.
A memorial service with military honors will be held at 4pm on Thursday, July 11, 2019 at Dove-Witt Family Mortuary, Fountain CO.
