Mary I. Helms

Mary Helms 83, of Security, CO went home to be with our Lord on April 3, 2011 after a courageous battle with cancer.

Mary was born January 20, 1928 in Council Grove, Kansas.

She retired from School District 3 after many years of driving school buses and working as a teacher's aide. She was a long time member of St. Dominic's Catholic Church.

Mary was a lover of animals, especially her three cats. Mary's favorite activities were reading, crocheting and going to the movies. She loved people, especially children, and people loved her. She enjoyed spending time with her family and friends. Mary will be missed by those who loved her.

Mary is survived by her husband, Herbert 6 children Sandy Shaver of Colorado Springs, Pam (John) Symington of Rockford, Illinois, Debbie (Glenn) Combs of Danville, Illinois, Michele (Vance) Almeida of Colorado Springs, Terry (Wendy) Helms of Irving, Texas, and Vickie Akin of Colorado Springs, 10 grandchildren, 13 great-grandchildren and 2 great-great grandchildren.

A Visitation will be held Thursday April 7, 2011 from 5:00pm-7:00pm with a 7:00pm Rosary to follow at St. Dominic Catholic Church. Funeral Mass will be held Friday April 8, 2011 at 10:00am at St. Dominic Catholic Church. Please join us in remembering Mary by visiting her
