Linda and Larry raised their children in Lamar, CO where they resided from 1975-1992. Larry managed an auto parts store and Linda was employed by the Lamar Fire Department as an administrative manager/dispatcher. During those years she played softball, volleyball, and was an avid bowler, serving as the league secretary. Her kids followed her athletic example and she was their biggest school sports supporter. She earned the title “Team Mom” by providing snacks for games and hosting entire team pregame dinners that usually included homemade lasagna and salad. She enjoyed family mountain camping and fishing trips and was a huge rock hound. She loved hunting for agates along the Salmon River in Idaho. She also loved taking the grandkids and great-grandkids on nature walks.
After a move to Security (Co. Springs), she attended Pikes Peak Community College to become a certified paraprofessional. She taught preschoolers at Ellicott School District where Trina was also a teacher. She loved working with the younger children, watching them develop their fun little personalities and they loved her too. Sharing rides to and from work with Trina provided quality time and lots of good belly laughs for the two of them. It was a cherished time for Linda.
She was very creative and loved to sew (including Tawnya’s wedding dress), quilts and was very crafty. She and her sister Mona partnered together to form a company called “Critters Inc.” and spent many hours creating their “inventory” they sold at craft fairs. She loved making things she knew would bring joy to someone else. And that included the love of making Christmas goodies like fudge, peanut brittle, patties and cluster, chocolate covered cherries, peppermint patties and the list goes on! Everyone looked forward to this as well as all of the huge holiday family gatherings she enjoyed hosting.
After retiring from teaching, she volunteered at “God’s Pantry”, where she again was able to help others. She was raised with good morals and worked hard to pass those on to her kids. She had a heart of gold, a faith in Jesus Christ and was dearly loved by so many.
Memorial donations may be made to Castaways Ranch or www.lowridersofthewest, both animal rescue causes were special to Linda.
Dove-Witt Family Mortuary of Fountain is in charge of final arrangements.
