Leone H. Carter went home to be with the Lord on Thursday May 27, 2010 at her daughter’s home in Fountain.
Leone was born February 12, 1918 in Kensal, North Dakota to Henry and Gabriel Frederickson. She was married on February 1, 1940 to Robert L. Carter who preceded her in death. She was also preceded in death by a brother Leon Frederickson, a sister Lois Wick, granddaughter Kristy Hagedorn and her twin sons.
She is survived by a brother, Leland (Mary Lorraine) Frederickson of Minnesota, a son Robert (Jean) Carter of Maryland, three daughters Sheryl (Ron) Pulling of Security, Kathy (Pat) Manley of Fountain and Julie Carter of Colorado Springs. Grandchildren Steve (Judi) and Bruce (Sue) Richards, Shelley (Rob) Haenze, Ryan Pulling, Matt and Bre Manley, Kim Sandoval, Bobby Sandoval, Jenny Maestas, Tony Maestas, 14 Great Grandchildren and 2 Great-Great Grandchildren.
Her husband’s military career brought their family to Security in 1961. Leone was a homemaker who enjoyed spending time with her family and special grandchildren. She was a member of Security Christian Church for many years. She was a loving mother, grandmother and friend to many and will be dearly missed by her family and friends. Leone’s strength and her unshakeable faith were most apparent to her family in her long fight with Alzheimers.
Visitation will be held on Thursday, June 3, 2010 from 4:00 – 7:00pm at Dove Witt Family Mortuary, 6630 S Highway 85/87, Fountain. Services will be held Friday, June 4th at 10:00am at Dove Witt. Burial to follow at Ft. Logan National Cemetery. In lieu of flowers please consider a donation to the Alzheimer’s Association of Colorado or the Pikes Peak Hospice.
