James L. Barbour, beloved husband, father, grandfather and great grandfather passed away unexpectedly on Oct. 25, 2021 at St. Francis hospital in Colorado Springs, Co. He was born in Concorde, New Hampshire, the third of four children born to the late G. Edward and Marjorie Barbour.
After graduating from high school and attending some college, Jim served in the United States Air Force. He served four years, during the Vietnam war, as a Crew Chief and Aircraft mechanic.
In the early 1980's, Jim made Colorado his home. It was there he met his beloved wife of 38 years, Joyce. From their union he gained an extended family of step children, and grandchildren.
Family was important to Jim. He enjoyed family holidays and spending time together. He enjoyed attending grandkids sporting events and school functions. He regularly kept in contact with his family in California and enjoyed visiting them.
Jim was a Denver Broncos fan. He also loved fast cars, preferably mopars, but his heart belonged to Nascar. He was an avid fan and collector of memorabilia.
Jim was a mentor, and loved being a Grandfather. There was little he wouldn't do for family or friends in need.
He was a strong and courageous man. He suffered alot of setbacks with his health through the years, but he persevered. He was knocked down more than his fair share, but he always got back up and continued living his life to the fullest.
Jim was a true gentleman with a kind and generous heart.
Jim was preceded in death by his parents, sister Carol, and great grandson Hunter.
He leaves behind to cherish his memory, his wife Joyce, brothers Dale Barbour, and John Barbour,
Stepson Herb Jones, Stepdaughter Nancy( Kevin )Lewis, Stepson Kevin Jones, Stepdaughter Julie ( David ) Otto, Grandchildren Jennifer, Kevin, Steven, Brandon and Ryan and a host of great grandchildren.
Memorial contributions may be made to the American Heart Association or the American Foundation for Suicide Prevention.
