Born April 26, 1944 in Laredo, Texas. He was the first of four boys to parents Henry (pilot in WW ll) and Jeanne Youngquist.
He grew up in Waverly, Iowa, and attended the University of Iowa for all his education. He graduated Alpha Omega (first in class) from Dental school in 1970 and Orthodontia in 1974.
Warren also served in the US Air Force and was a very proud Vietnam veteran, receiving the Air Force commendation medal.
Warren began a very successful Orthodontic practice in Colorado Springs and Lamar in 1974. He totally enjoyed his work and seemed to know something special about every one of his patients.
He was also involved with the Dental associations and was a diplomate of the American Board of Orthodontics. He retired in 2010.
He met his soul mate, best friend and the love of his life, Elizabeth, in Colorado Springs and married in 1983… they shared an amazing, adventurous, wonderful and loving life together.
Warren had an amazing zest for life. He did everything to live a better, healthier and longer life, not just for himself, but also for his family and friends.
He was always the life of the party and lit up the room when he entered with his big smile, energy and positive attitude….he made fun happen.
Warren was an incredible friend and even a better life mentor by his advice, knowledge and example he set, to so many, young and old.
It was amazing how he could meet someone once, and they would never forget him as he was so interesting, wise and engaging.
His friends called him “Wiki Warren” because he was smart and knew something about everything. But he was an ultimate gentleman, humble and kind…when getting a compliment, he always answered “aren’t you nice”. And one of his favorite saying was “It’s all Good”! (A songwriter on Maui actually wrote a song for Warren with that title) Warren enjoyed numerous activities… Windsurfing, skiing, fly fishing, back packing, running, hiking, golf, blues and rock n roll music, cars and traveling.
He loved adventures with his family…going on yearly father/brother/son fishing trips and “Broski” ski trips.
He became an accomplished drummer at the age of 60 and played in the neighborhood band. Later in life he also was asked to marry friends and family (since he had a way with words) and also became a sommelier. He never stopped learning and achieving.
Warren and Elizabeth traveled, throughout their lives, extensively around the world, whether they were on wine trips, in beautiful cities and countryside, beaches and small ship cruises.
They were also fortunate to have built their dream home on Maui, which Warren enjoyed to the fullest for 20 years, inviting many friends and family…always being the perfect host.
Warren would always contribute much of his success to luck…although he worked hard and provided generously to his family.
But…we are the lucky ones to have had this incredible man in our lives, and we will miss him tremendously.
.
He is survived by his beloved wife, Elizabeth, his sons Dr. Adam Youngquist (Bernadette) and Josh Youngquist, grandsons Tristan and Alec, brothers Dr. Robert Youngquist (Blythe), Keith (Lar), Paul (deceased), in-laws Gary and Mary Ann Markle, mother in law Maria Klayman and many nieces and nephews.
A Celebration of Warren’s Wonderful Life will be held on September 17, 2022. For information and invitation, please send email to: [email protected]
