Fred Lee Ferguson, Jr., 95, of Fountain, Colorado, formerly of Denver, passed away on Sunday, January 14, 2018. Fred was born to Fred Lee Ferguson, Sr. and Gladys Elvira Fahrion Ferguson in Denver on March 4, 1922. Fred married Maxine Elizabeth Small on June 30, 1948. Together, they had three children: Shelley Kay, Sherry Lynn, and Holly Ann. Fred was an active member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. He held many leadership positions in the church, including serving as a Bishop twice; he especially enjoyed serving his 25 -years of service as an LDS chaplain at the El Paso County Criminal Justice Center. Fred was also an Electronic Technician and played football in the Navy during World War II. He went on to become an accomplished Facilities Director, eventually retiring from Kansas State University in 1987.
Fred is survived by his daughters, their spouses, 10 grandchildren, and 10 great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his sister, Betty Elvira Holmes, and his wife, Maxine.
Funeral services will be held at 11:30 AM on Friday, January 19, at the LDS Chapel at 325 Putnam Drive, Colorado Springs, CO, 80911. A viewing for friends and family will be held prior to the service from 10:00 to 11:15 AM. Burial will be at Ft. Logan National Cemetery in Denver.
