Donald L. Thompson

Donald L.Thompson, 50, of Security, Colorado went to be with the Lord on January 22, 2011, at his home with his loving family by his side after a yearlong battle with cancer. He was born on February 2, 1960 in Anchorage, Alaska.

He is survived by his wife Judy (McGowan) Thompson. They were married March 30, 1996. He is also survived by his stepson Brandon McGowan, Fort Collins, Colorado; his parents Russell Thompson (Lea), Security, Colorado and Montez Killman (Enlow), Carthage, Missouri; sisters: Debbie Bowman (Jim), Clovis, N.M. and Denise Clark (David), Carthage, Missouri; brothers: Daniel, Colorado Springs and Douglas, Clovis N.M.; step-brother Evan Young, Colorado Springs, Colorado, step-sister Cindy Shattuck, Denver, Colorado; brothers-in-law: Roger McGowan, Security, Colorado and Michael McGowan, Denver, Colorado; sisters-in-law: Debbie McGowan, Security, Colorado and Donna(McGowan)Luciani, Security, Colorado, and many nieces and nephews.

Donnie had no children of his own but was a father figure to all his nieces and nephews. He always made sure they knew how to use a fishing pole and catch a fish. Donnie was always there to lend a hand with a smile and happy heart. He will be missed by all who have loved him. Donnie worked as a Supervisor at Foxworth-Galbraith Lumber Co. for 18 years, making lasting friendships with all he met.

Memorial Services will be held on Saturday, January 29, 2011 at St. Raphael Episcopal Church, 803 Leta Drive, Security, Colorado at 10:00am. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Donald L. Thompson’s name to Odyssey Hospice 5526 N. Academy Blvd. Ste. 108, Colorado Spring, Co. 80918.
